Chicago families determined to eat local, live green or “just do something a little different” are increasingly renting egg-laying hens for the summer. Companies like Urban Chicken Rentals and Rent-a-Chicken have seen an uptick in Chicago-area families looking for chickens to rent. For roughly $110 a month, renters receive two or three chickens, feed, dishes, bedding and a sturdy wood and wore coop, as well as email, phone or text support. (Herald & Review)
