The Senate Ag Committee announced yesterday a deal had been reached to require national labeling of genetically modified organisms in packaged foods, just a week before Vermont’s labeling law goes into effect, according to the Washington Post. AFBF responded to the deal Thursday, saying the organization is pleased to see a federal standard, but continues to oppose mandatory labeling.
