State election officials are expected to consider certification of a proposed ballot measure that would ask Illinois voters if an independent commission should draw Illinois’ voting districts. Last month, election officials said the Independent Map Amendment coalition had submitted enough valid signatures to be listed on November’s general election ballot. The constitutional amendment still faces an uphill battle as a lawsuit filed in Cook County could keep it off the ballot. (State Journal-Register)
