More than two-thirds of the crops that underpin national diets originally came from somewhere else – a trend that has accelerated during the past 50 years, a new study, featured on NPR’s The Salt, shows. Lead researcher Colin Khoury said, “The numbers affirm what we have long known – that our entire food system is completely global.”
