The Cook County Farm Bureau and Illinois State Fair partnered with Arlington International Racecourse in suburban Chicago Sunday for State Fair Family Day at the historic horse track. Farm Bureau volunteers and staff offered kids and parents the opportunity to learn more about food and farming and visit ‘The Farmer is In” booth. Kevin Gordon, manager of the Illinois State Fair, hoped the event would encourage Chicagoans to venture to in-state fairs, noting both the Springfield and Du Quoin State Fairs are better values than the one a bit closer to Chicagoans across the border in West Allis, Wis.
