Down a sandy road in the northeast corner of Iroquois County, nature loving visitors now can find the first 66 acres of the Kankakee National Wildlife Refuge and Conservation Area. It is the latest and 564th national wildlife refuge of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as reported by the Kankakee Daily Journal.
