MILLIONAIRE TAX PROPOSAL FAILS

The Illinois House fell short Wednesday of approving a proposed constitutional amendment to impose a surtax on incomes above $1 million. The proposed amendment, sponsored by House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago, got 68 “yes” votes in the House, but it needed 71 to pass, as reported by the State Journal-Register.
