DESPITE BIRD FLU, PUMPKIN WASH-OUT, THANKSGIVING COSTS STEADY

Bird flu took a bite out of the turkey supply. Heavy rains washed out the pumpkin crop. Yet Thanksgiving groceries likely won’t cost Americans much more than last year. Even though bird flu wiped out 8 million turkeys, consumers are in no danger of missing out. Record rains early in the growing season wiped out about 50 percent of the pumpkin crop in Illinois. But Libby’s still expects it to last through Thanksgiving and longer, as reported by the State-Journal Register.
