WET SUMMER CASTS DOUBT ON UPCOMING HARVEST

Corn yields ranged from 74 bushels an acre to 247 bushels an acre in some central #Illinois fields. One of the wettest summers in modern Illinois history has shrouded the coming harvest season in a mystery only the reapers will answer once they hit the fields in earnest next month. An annual corn yield tour organized by Kim Craig, a grain merchandiser for Deer Creek-based Bell Enterprises, a firm than operates grain elevators in Deer Creek, Congerville, Goodfield and Mackinaw, indicated that a wide range of prospects could face the corn farmers, as reported by the Peoria Journal Star.
